What’s happened to our Quinton shops?

By Bernard Taylor

I hope that all of you have been watching the wonderful television series “Turn Back Time-The High Street”. I was intrigued by the one on the 1950s and 1960s and also in comparison to the photo below showing the Hollybush Shopping Parade dated 1953/54. I traced the Kelly’s Directory in 1953 and was truly amazed by the choice given to all Quintonians at that time; I know that the shops in the 1970s were one of the reasons for Iris and I making our home in Quinton in 1975.
