Week Day Activities in 1948

By Betty Rose

My cousin Pauline Sister Doreen and I were members of the Health and Beauty Keep fit Class, which met at the Scout Hut on Perryhill Road- then the Presbyterian Church.

We used to march to music doing exercises as we moved along. We worked for medals and it was very competitive.

We had annual Displays and medal presentations at Brandhall School in the now old part of the School but then it was the only part of the school.

We wore white blouses and black shorts.

Can anyone recognise Betty Rose on the photograph?

We did Wooden Club Swinging also- I still have a pair of black clubs that I was presented with.

Mrs Gresty (back row fourth from left) had a pair of Clubs with lights inside- batteries I presume and the lights were turned out and she did a display we thought at the time this was wonderful.

We did Country Dancing also- we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Most of the people attending came from the Tree Roads of Elm Croft, Oak, Forest, Chestnut and Holly roads.

Edís comment - Thank you Betty for this piece of Quinton History.
